Fall Business Meeting Minutes

The fall meeting of the UMHB Crusader Parent Organization was called to order by Steve Howard, President.  Gregg Todd, Vice President, opened the meeting with prayer.

Dr. Randy O'Rear, President of UMHB, spoke on the future of UMHB and the building program.

Old minutes were read and approved.

Treasurer's report was given by Steve Howard (Hugh Jackson, Treasurer, was out of state).  $6,000 from last year's funds went to purchase sofas and chairs for the SUB instead of purchasing game equipment as furniture was a greater need.  $613 was generated from t-shirt sales during Welcome Week and $948 was generated from t-shirt sales at the first football game.  $1,845 remains in the account to start the year.

Steve explained the process for the silent auction and encouraged participants to donate items and/or bid on the 100+ items available.  Help was solicited for t-shirt sales, the auction and the tailgate party.

CPO voted on honoring a Student of the Month for a servanthood award.  Dr. Weathersbee and staff will choose a student monthly.  Out of the eight students chosen monthly, one will be given a small scholarship from the CPO at the end of the spring semester.  Gregg Todd made a motion to accept and it was seconded by Karen Howard.  The motion passed.

Dr. Weathersbee spoke briefly by thanking the parents fro their involvement in the CPO.

Jheri Lynn Smith was introduced at the Student Life liaison.  It was noted that Jheri Lynn has done an excellent job since starting in August and her work is deeply appreciated.

UMHB student Sam Williams thanked the CPO for their dedication to improving student life and offered his thoughts on the importance of the UMHB family atmosphere.

Gregg Todd made a motion to accept.  Carla Smith seconded.  The vote passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 12:20 p.m.
